Happy Summer everyone! I'm so happy that we have 3 glorious months of blue sky and sunshine to look forward to. Today I'm going to create a relaxed, beachy living room inspired by this beautiful photograph of Lucy Vincent Beach in Martha's Vineyard, taken by my very talented sister Lisa. I love the colors in this image - the gradations of blue in the sky, and the variations of copper, gold, and beige in the rocks. A little pop of pink from the beach umbrella makes it interesting. Let's see how we can use these colors to design a room!
I've pulled some of the dominant colors from the photo to create a color palette for inspiration. Basic furnishings in neutral tones and natural textures are a great starting point. Just like the colors in the rocks and sand range from cream to copper, I've selected items in various neutral shades like the off-white sofa, the tan braided jute rug, and the rich, coppery leather butterfly chair. To add some color you can layer the space with pillows, artwork, and accessories. See below for sources.
