It's 2015, can you believe it!? The new year is the perfect time to clear out the clutter and give your home a design refresh. I helped my sister Lisa decorate her bedroom over 7 years ago, but after years of wear and tear, it was definitely in need of an update. She didn't want to go crazy with a major overhaul, so I suggested a 4 step mini-makeover to upgrade her look. Keep reading to see how we transformed this cute, but tired bedroom into a bright, and stylish showpiece.
Ok, so this is what the space looked like when my sister moved in years ago. It's not bad - the colors are fresh and the nightstands are in good shape - but it's a little dated. We can definitely do better. The pictures in the gallery wall are too small to see, and the arrangement feels cluttered. The lamp shades and headboard are ok, but a little boring - we just went with the cheapest options at the time. Some bigger artwork and a few key updates will give this room the design boost it needs to feel fresh and new.
Now here's the 4 step makeover that will totally transform this room. In today's post I'll highlight Step 1 - Upgrading the Headboard. I'll go into more detail about steps 2,3, and 4 in the upcoming weeks.
Step 1 - New headboard: Skyline Furniture Tufted Wingback Linen Headboard
Step 2 - Bigger and better gallery wall
Step 3 - DIY lampshades
Step 4 - Nightstand styling refresh
This gorgeous linen headboard looks like a million bucks. It comes in several different color options, but we chose grey. The tufted upholstery is thick and comfy, and the wings make it feel regal and grand. You'll feel super safe and cozy in bed, like your headboard is giving you a big hug! It costs $510.99 with free 2-day shipping. It's pretty easy to assemble, and it attaches to a standard bed frame. This is cute, stylish piece that will look fantastic and last a long time.
Here's the finished look! Stay tuned next week where I'll go in depth about Step 2 - how to build a better gallery wall.
