Happy New Year everyone! I hope your 2016 is off to a great start. To kick off the new year I wanted to share this design project I recently worked on in collaboration with Laura McDonald Design Build. I met Laura McDonald while working for the Novogratz a few years ago. She is a talented interior designer and stylist, and I was really excited when she asked me to work with her on The Station, a new bar-lounge in Harrison, NJ. This space was originally an underused conference room at the Element Hotel near the Harrison train station. It was really bland and boring with beige walls and carpets, and ugly fluorescent light fixtures. It was an amazing transformation, and I will share some before and after pics in another post. But for now, keep reading to see lots of after pics, and a full tour of this gorgeous space:
A sliding glass pocket door welcomes you into the space. The beautiful signage was designed by Love & War branding agency.
The back bar is striking and dramatic, and features diagonal shelving that alternates with decorative wine glass storage and stainless look panels.
A close-up detail showing the wine glass storage.
A cozy reading area with fabric paneled wall helps to keep sound levels under control.
The glamorous, silver-tipped bulbs and light fixtures are from Schoolhouse Electric.
A shot of the space looking towards the Element Hotel entrance. The 15 ft bar features a gorgeous zinc top, and was actually repurposed from another hotel.
This beautiful geometric mural catches the eye, and ties together nicely with the back bar shelving.
How gorgeous are these octagonal tile floors?
