Despite the chilly weather, I am a huge fan of trekking to a weekend brunch in the winter with friends and loved ones. For those of us who are lucky enough to live in or near Manhattan, we have such a huge assortment of amazing eateries to choose from. What inspires me possibly even more than a great bloody mary or frittata is the ambience of a well designed bar or restaurant. With Valentine's Day only days away I've pulled together a list of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful brunch spots that NYC has to offer. And you better believe that their fare is equally as lovely! Read on for the full breakdown...
1. ABC Cocina
From the can-do-no-wrong masterminds of ABC Carpet & Home, this hard-to-book restaurant is a must try. Featuring many organic and shared Mexican food options, this cavernous space is playful and romantic - and a stop in their gorgeous home goods store before or afterwards is obviously a must!
2. Cafe Clover
This charming West Village cafe is rather new to the restaurant scene and sums its locally sourced health conscious menu up with its motto, "Good cooking is when things taste of what they are".
One of my all-time favorite gems for any meal, this Alphabet City restaurant serves delicious Austrian food, clever cocktails and has a rustic mysterious interior filled with fun touches like Victorian military boot flower vases and top hat lamps.
If the warm banana bread were not enough to get me in the door of this English gastropub, the breathtaking white stained brick walls, large assortments of flowers and greens and copious amounts of natural sunlight would definitely do the trick.
This cozy secluded spot off of Freeman's Alley is colonial American inspired and decked out in an array of fun vintage items and lots of taxonomy and their hardy menu options will leave you super satisfied.
This old intimate townhouse serving "inventive" Chinese dim sum and other clever dishes is adorned in rustic accents including menus, chopsticks and candles hanging in baskets from metal piping but get there early because this cozy space fills up quickly.
9. The Wren
For the perfect mix of no nonsense bar food and a rustic yet elegant atmosphere, go no further than to this Bowery locale which also houses a classy make your own bloody mary bar filled with every garnish you can imagine.
