Happy New Year everyone! I hope your 2017 is off to wonderful start. Personally, I'm making some big changes this year. I just moved from New York City to San Diego, California! Well, for the next few months at least. The short story is that I'm here to study acupuncture and Chinese medicine at Pacific College. I started a master's program this past fall in New York City, and it turns out my school has campuses in New York, Chicago, and San Diego. So I decided to take advantage of this opportunity to escape the East Coast winter and spend some time on beach. Not a bad idea, right? The long story is a little more complicated than that. 2016 was a year of major changes and soul searching for me. While I'm still working as a freelance interior designer, I've been longing to work with people in a deeper, more healing capacity. Hence my decision to pursue a master's degree in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I also went through a major breakup this year, and have been struggling to figure out where I belong. I was in a relationship for six years, and I honestly thought we were moving towards marriage and starting a family. Instead, I find myself newly single and 35. It feels like I'm starting over at a time when I thought I would be settling down. As someone who has always been a planner and an organizer, dealing with this newfound uncertainty has been a challenge. But I suppose it's a challenge in the best way possible. I know I'm incredibly fortunate to have the freedom and opportunity to pursue my passions and travel the world. I'm going to be spending the next few months in sunny California, just minutes from the beach, and I'm totally thrilled about it. I've got a great apartment lined up, and I start classes next week. I'm sure there will be times when I feel lost and lonely out here on the West Coast, but I'm ready to embrace my new future, whatever that may be. I'm looking forward to 2017 as a year of growth and adventure, challenge and change. And I wish the same for you. Stay tuned for more updates soon. Happy New Year!
